Sleep Center Regensburg

The sleep center at the University of Regensburg, Germany conducts the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. The scientific basis is sleep medicine. This is a relatively young area of research. Eighty different sleep disorders can be classified on the basis of the international classification of sleep disorders (ICSD 1990). 

 

Sleep medicine is a combination of different areas of specialty. The Sleep Center at the University of Regensburg has an interdisciplinary team including psychologists, psychiatrits and nurses.

  • Tatjana Croenlein (psychologist)

The sleep center works in the clinical field with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with all kinds of sleep disorders. The sleep laboratory provides diagnosis and treatment to 500 patients per year. Clinical research is carried out in the area of biological rhythms and rhythms disorders, narcolepsy and insomnia. Scientific collaboration is carried out with the university of Regensburg, with the Deutsche Luft- und Raumfahrtforschung, DLR /German space agency) in conjunction with the ESA NASA, with the Institute of Chronobiology (New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center and with the Stanford University, USA.

Sleep medicine is closely related to chronobiology, and the treatment of sleep disorders with light therapy is carried out when indicated.
